Recycle Revolution
Over 50% of plastic is used a single time before being thrown away |
This number is shocking. So many plastics have more life left in them, but they are left in the trash and eventually a landfill. Plastic does not degrade quickly, and as it does, it becomes very tiny microplastics. These microplastics never full go away, and end up all around the planet, from forests to wetlands, and mainly, the ocean. Animals ingest these microplastics, and it acts like a poison, slowly killing them. Some animals cannot differentiate between large plastics and food, and can even asphyxiate to death by choking on plastic bags. This issue needs to be resolved, and since we cannot exactly get rid of the plastic we have already created, we can instead learn how to keep it out of the oceans by reusing it.
